PTC Unveils PTC Creo 3.0

Updates include Unite technology, new graphical realism support and extensive hardware libraries.

PTC has announced the newest release of its PTC Creo design software. The new features include overall enhancements  that ensure productivity, innovation and a more flexible design process.

The new Unite technology in version 3.0 enables CAD data to be directly used in the PTC Creo Parametric TM, DirectTM, SimulateTM and Options ModelerTM applications. This feature allows for consolidation of multiple CAD systems and improved efficiency when working with different CAD tools, the company states. Users can open and import SolidWorks, CATIA NXTM files without additional software.

PTC has also delivered new concept design tools that provide increased flexibility and control. Among these changes include greater scalability and richer tools in the layout to support 2D concept engineering activities, a an updated 3D direct modeling application for quickly creating designs and the AlignTM FreestyleTM design module enables designers to create and drive freeform designs.

There are also new productivity enhancements, such as graphical realism support, extensive hardware libraries, updated analysis tools, automated fastener assembly workflows, core and sheet metal modeling enhancements and an improved help system.

“With PTC Creo 3.0, we continue to deliver on the PTC strategy.  Our ground breaking Unite technology addresses the data and process-related challenges of CAD consolidation.  By enabling designers to convert data ‘as needed, when needed’, and only converting the data that requires modification, organizations can save a tremendous amount of effort and cost,” said Michael Campbell, executive vice president CAD segment, PTC.
