Quickparts uses FDM technology to create antennae for this Accumetrics earth fault resistance monitor.

Quickparts  (Atlanta, GA), an online provider of custom manufactured plastic and metal parts, announced the availability of the new fused deposition modeling (FDM) material, ABS-M30.

FDM is a solid-based rapid prototyping method that extrudes material,  layer-by-layer, to build a model. The system consists of a build platform,  extrusion nozzle, and control system.

The build material, production quality thermoplastics such as ABS-M30, is melted and then extruded through a specially designed head onto a platform to create a two-dimensional cross section of the model. The cross section quickly solidifies, and the platform descends where the next layer is extruded upon the previous layer. This continues until the model is complete, where it is then removed from the build chamber and cleaned for shipping.

ABS-M30 complements Quickparts’ current line of FDM materials, including ABS, polycarbonate,  PCABS, and PCABSi. Prototypes made from the new FDM material can now be quoted instantly online using Quickparts’ patented QuickQuote process. All material properties and data sheets are also available online.

ABS-M30 is 25-70 percent stronger than standard ABS and is designed for conceptual prototyping, design verification, and direct digital manufacturing. ABS-M30 has greater tensile, impact, and flexural strength than standard ABS. Layer bonding is significantly stronger than that of standard ABS, for a more durable part,  resulting in more realistic functional tests and higher quality parts for end use.

Quickparts’custom manufacturing services include rapid prototypes (SLA, SLS, FDM, PolyJet), cast urethanes, injection mold tooling and parts, sheet metal parts, and CNC machined parts.
