In the PS 2000 series of scope adapters offered by Saelig Co. Inc. (Pittsford, NY), capabilities of the oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, and arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) are combined in a small (3.9-in. x 5.3-in. x 1.8-in.) rugged PC-powered housing that weighs less than 8 oz.

The palm-sized PS2000 adapters offer two scope channels and a built-in signal generator that can produce standard library-stored waveforms, but they can also output user-defined waveforms using a powerful built-in arbitrary waveform generator (AWG).

Powered either from a PC or from an external power supply, PS2000 series adapters use USB2.0’s full bandwidth (480Mbps) for rapid screen update without compromising accuracy or detail. PS2000 series adapters offer bandwidths from 5 to 25MHz,  sampling rates up from 40MSps to 200MSps, and buffer sizes from 8 to 16Ksamples. Windows software provided with the PS2200 series is powerful yet easy to operate. Made by Pico Technology, a European oscilloscope adapter manufacturer,  PS2203/4/5 scope adapters include carry case and two probes and start at $298.

In another offering from Saelig, the USB-based SPI Analyzer can check out 3-wire buses. The PC-controlled SPI Xpress is a high-speed SPI (serial peripheral interface) exerciser/analyzer for debug, analysis, and testing of chips and electronic boards. It works not only for standard SPI-protocol interfaces but also many other serial interfaces that vary from the SPI standard, including 3-wire interfaces with bidirectional data line — all at up to 50Mbps data rate. SPI Xpress is delivered with 8PI Control Panel control software that features an SPI application with GUI, integrated waveform viewer, scripting TCL/tk interface, and direct C/C++ DLL access.

Powered either from the USB bus or from an external power supply, SPI Xpress is a versatile 3- and 4-wire SPI exerciser/analyzer that uses a USB 2.0 high-speed interface. SPI Xpress is supplied with accessories and control software (MS Windows) including a GUI, a waveform viewer, scripting TCL/tk interface and direct C/C++ DLL access. Applications include both in-lab development and onsite, and after-installation servicing is offered.

Made in Europe by Byte Paradigm, SPI Xpress is available at $699.00 from Saelig Co. Inc. For further details on either product, please go to Saelig Co. Inc.
