Sakor Technologies Provides Valve Spring Tester to SAIC Motor Corporation

The new test stand system will aid SAIC and its partners for valve train development and testing.

SAKOR Technologies Inc., a provider of dynamometer testing instrumentation, has supplied a valve spring test system to SAIC Motor Corporation in Shanghai, China. This test stand will be used for valve train development and testing and will help facilitate fuel economy improvements.

With its new testing capabilities, SAIC and its partners will drive engine cam systems to make precise laser measurements of valve displacement, spring displacement and motion of other valve train engine head components.

The SAKOR test stand system is equipped with a single AccuDyne AC Dynamometer, which simultaneously drives both camshafts. The AccuDyne, a 4-quadrant motoring dynamometer, can test two active and passive devices, such as camshafts, pumps, clutches and compressors. It will also review different mechanical components, springs and valve seats. An advanced version of the SAKOR test system can simulate different cam phasing methods of valve opening and closing.

“The new test stand for SAIC is another example of our growing experience developing cost effective and convenient flexible test stands for automotive OEM and component manufacturers,” said Randal Beattie, president of SAKOR. “Configured and sized with all the capabilities required for current needs, SAKOR test systems can be easily expanded in response to future demands.”
