SensAble Introduces Auto Surfacing Module

By DE Editors

The latest software release from SensAble Technologies, Inc. (Woburn, MA; sensable.com),  FreeForm Modeling Version 9.1 and Modeling Plus 9.1, contain new features to further streamline the creation of 3D “virtual- clay” models.

The Auto Surfacing Module within the FreeForm Modeling Plus system is the most notable upgrade, and the company expects it to save time and expense when preparing surface models for manufacturing. Users can define parameters for Auto Surfacing in the software, export as IGES or STEP files, and then edit in their traditional CAD systems, such as Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, and AliasStudio.

Other v9.1 highlights include performance improvements of up to 85 percent over v9.0 for key functionality, customizable STL-to-Clay conversions, and additional options to customize the user interface. A designer can use projected high-resolution 2D images and textures as interactive modeling guides while taking advantage of all the tools in Adobe PhotoShop, and can now add flowing, repetitive details, and patterns to models more quickly.

The 32-bit and 64-bit editions are available. Customers with active maintenance contracts will automatically receive the v9.1 upgrade at no charge.
