Siemens PLM Software Announces Parasolid 20.0

Siemens PLM Software (Plano, TX) has announced the availability of ParasolidVersion 20.0, the latest release of its PLM 3D geometric modeling componentsoftware. According to a press release, with this version, Siemens PLM Softwarecontinues its close collaboration with the Parasolid user community — developersof many of the world’s PLM applications — to extend the ability of Parasolid tosolve complex real-world problems in product design anddevelopment.

Parasolid V20.0 includes a wide variety of enhancements that,taken together, represent a significant step forward in modeling capability andproductivity.

The announcement lists four primary features:

• Face deleteand change functions have been extended to support more complex topologies,resulting in a sophisticated direct editing tool that is easy-to-use yet muchmore powerful; capable of significantly reducing model editing time.
  
• Newblend capping controls allow complex blend configurations to be constructed withfewer, simpler steps.
  
• Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) hardware can nowaccelerate the generation of facet data for visualization and downstreamapplications, reducing the time needed for design validation andmanufacture.
  
• Blending enhancements now enable Parasolid to automaticallyoptimize model tolerances, resulting in quality and productivity improvementsacross multiple operations.
