Six Workshops at ASME Turbo Expo 2011 Provide Training

The ASME International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) has announced six instructional workshops for engineers and other technical professionals in the gas turbine field.

The workshops, to be held June 4-5, 2011, at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre in Vancouver, BC, Canada, will provide hands-on training for professionals seeking to broaden their knowledge and proficiency in various gas turbine topics. The training will take place in conjunction with ASME Turbo Expo 2011.

The titles of the workshops are: Gas Turbine Operations and Maintenance, Technology and Applications of Turbine Coatings, Advances in Turbine Aero-Thermo-Mechanical Design and Analysis, Gas Turbine Aerothermodynamics & Performance Calculations, Basic Gas Turbine Metallurgy and Repair Technology, and Introduction to Optimization Methods and Tools for Multi-Disciplinary Design in Turbomachinery.

The courses will be taught by experts from companies and research organizations, including GE, Rolls-Royce, Air Force Research Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and Oxford University.
