Where were you that terrible, gleaming morning?

Where were you that terrible, gleaming morning?

By Doug Barney

Six years ago today I was in the convention center in Atlanta across from the CNN center. It was Networld + Interop, and I was judging the best products awards as editor in chief of Network Computing magazine. One of the judges had his browser open and told us one of the World Trade Centers was just hit by a plane. Seventeen minutes later the second tower was it, and we knew we were under attack.

Two days later in a van back to Boston, I saw the white smoke of ground zero and choked on its acrid, electric, metallic scent.

Where were you? At Interop? The HP Technology Symposium in LA? At work? Write me at barneymailto:[email protected] and I’ll share your stories in our next newsletter.
