Stratasys Announces Finalists in Extreme Redesign Challenge

Entries are being based on creativity and plausibility.

Stratasys has selected finalists for its annual Extreme Redesign 3D Printing Challenge. The contest gives entrants the opportunity to redesign an existing product or create a new design that improves how a task is accomplished.

The categories include Engineering: Secondary Education, Engineering: Post-Secondary plus Art and Architecture (any grade level). According to Stratasys, entries are evaluated on creativity, mechanical soundness and being realistically achievable. First place winners will receive a $2,500 scholarship and second place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

This year’s judges are:

  • Tim Shinbara, VP, Manufacturing Technology, Association for Manufacturing Technology
  • Leslie Langnau, managing editor, Design World magazine
  • Todd Grimm, president, T.A. Grimm & Associates
  • Steve Deak, senior engineer of Additive Manufacturing, GE, & vice president, AMUG Board
Regional semi-finalists will receive a 3D model of their own design and top ten finalists will advance to the final state of judging.
