Effective May 1, Strategic Test (Woburn, MA), a supplier of PC-based instrument boards, will equip all of its cards with 256MB of onboard memory. With this larger memory it is now possible to record a 200MSps 8-bit signal for more than 1 second — compared to only 320 milliseconds for a card with just 64MB. The new larger memory applies to all of Strategic Test’s PCI and PCI Express cards, more than 100 models in total.

More memory for high-speed instruments is often essential. The faster that you digitize or generate signals the sooner the limit of the PCI or PCI Express bus to continuously transfer data is reached. Memory size then limits the recorded or generated signal length and when the sample rate or output rate is millions of samples per second, that time becomes very short.

Prices of the PCI and PCI Express cards start at $3,499. OEM and volume discounts are available. For details, contact Strategic Test.
