PTC seeks student product designs for annual contest.

By Sara Ferris

PTC (Needham, MA)  is accepting entries for its second annual DesignQuest Challenge, which allows students to showcase their product designs created using Pro/ENGINEER or Pro/DESKTOP. Deadline for entries is March 30, 2008. The contest is open to individual students and student teams who attend academic institutions that participate in the PTC Global Education Program. Contestants must be registered students during the 2007–2008 school year and be sponsored by a teacher at the school.

There are two categories —Secondary School and Post Secondary. Five finalists will be named in each category, and from that group a panel of PTC users will choose one Grand Prize winner in each category. The grand prize winners each receive US$1,000 as well as seats of PTC software for their schools. Additional prizes will be awarded to all finalists.

Each submission must include a brief description of the design, the problem it solves (or how it improves an existing product), and why it is important. Entries will be judged on how well they solve unique or defined problems, design innovation, design quality,  design complexity, feasibility, ergonomics/ease of use, and aesthetics.

For more details or to submit an entry, visit www.ptc.com/go/ptcchallenge.
