SYCODE Launches Add-ins for SolidWorks

SYCODE (Panaji, India) launched four AutoCAD DWG and DXF file import and export add-ins for SolidWorks, greatly increasing interoperability.

While SolidWorks can read and write AutoCAD DWG and DXF files, the owner of SYCODE explains in the release, SolidWorks does not support all versions of the DWG and DXF file format. SolidWorks 2007 cannot read and write AutoCAD 2008 DWG and DXF files, nor can it export parts or assemblies to DWG/DXF files. It can only create DWG/DXF files from its own 2D drawings.

SYCODE’s new AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ins for SolidWorks are designed to remove these limitations and give SolidWorks users the ability to read and write 3D DWG/DXF files. Thus, the AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ins include DWG Import for SolidWorks, DXF Import for SolidWorks, DWG Export for SolidWorks, and DXF Export for SolidWorks.

The DWG/DXF import add-ins read 3D solid geometry from DWG/DXF files and creates corresponding solid bodies in a SolidWorks part or assembly document. The DWG/DXF export add-ins read solid bodies in a SolidWorks part or assembly document and create corresponding 3D solid geometry objects in a DWG/DXF file.

The export add-ins allow solid bodies to be exported as meshes in the DWG/DXF file, which is useful when exporting 3D data to CAD systems that do not read ACIS solids in AutoCAD files. The AutoCAD 3D interoperability add-ins are priced at $287 (195 Euros) each and are available as fully functional 10 day/run trials.
