Teamcenter’s lifecycle visualization capability supported by the open and published CAD-neutral JT format create an open,  visual platform that represents a common 3D language across your entire PLM landscape.
It has been said that Teamcenter and Siemens PLM Software have earned the trust and loyalty of the global manufacturing community. In fact, with three million installed licenses of Teamcenter under its belt,  Teamcenter claims it has held its top 100 customers for 17 years – this in addition to being recognized with several industry awards over the past two years. We must ask, how?

“By listening to the market and understanding the challenges of the global manufacturing community,” said Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president of Products, Siemens PLM Software, about Teamcenter. “As a result,  our customers can spend less time on non-productive tasks and more time on producing the world’s most innovative new products.”

“Siemens PLM Software appears to be ahead of its competitors in driving product data management functions across the board in product development projects. Their broad scope of solutions is impressive but it’s the integration of those end-to-end offerings that creates real value for manufacturers.”

Earlier this month, when Siemens PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D; Plano, TX), announced Teamcenter 2007 as the latest version of its PLM digital platform and software portfolio, the company promised success through manageability and lower costs,  greater productivity through teamwork and control, with greater innovation in manufacturing as the ultimate reward.

By offering a complete service-oriented architecture (SOA),  easy-to-use interface, and end-to-end PLM solution set, Teamcenter 2007 is said to significantly lower the total cost of ownership for PLM technology through a single source of product and process knowledge and collaboration. Developed with a focus on lowering the total cost of PLM ownership, Teamcenter features can expand control of the entire product lifecycle process by accelerating implementations, enhancing productivity, and streamlining collaboration.

The compliance management capability lets users actively track compliance and accountability across the entire product lifecycle. Plus engineers can locate substitute parts in the bill of material that comply with specific regulations.

“SOA-based PLM reduces the cost and complexity of deploying and maintaining a distributed PLM environment,” says Ed Miller, president of industry consulting and research firm CIMdata. “Siemens PLM Software has delivered their new unified architecture capability with the ability to coexist and interoperate with current Teamcenter implementations. This means that the upgrade path for existing Teamcenter customers can be much more cost-effective.”

The complete SOA technology foundation in the portfolio delivers a fully unified PLM suite. By unifying product-related data,  Teamcenter 2007 creates fast, easy access to just the right information regardless of the end user’s location or job responsibility. This information can then be leveraged with new process knowledge enhancements for embedded requirements management, which gives the user the ability to allocate requirements to mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software systems and effectively manage the impact of change.

The engineering knowledge management capability lets users visually navigate an assembly structure and drill down into its sub-assemblies as well as its individual components.

Teamcenter 2007 can simplify bill-of-material (BOM)  management with new tools to visualize and browse complex product relationships, aligning design BOMs with business BOMs, and enabling BOM editing and redlining. In addition, other capabilities offer Systems Engineering and Requirements Management; Portfolio, Program and Project Management; Engineering Process Management; Compliance Management; Supplier Relationship Management;  Mechatronics Process Management; Manufacturing Process Management; and Reporting and Analytics.

Teamcenter provides a single organized and secure source of simulation data and processes that can be embedded into the product lifecycle to better assess product performance and quality while improving development efficiency. By ensuring simulation teams can more effectively coordinate their activities, simulation processes can be integrated and certified with the rest of the product-development process.

The enterprise knowledge management foundation provides a powerful workflow engine to automate and orchestrate processes across your enterprise.

It also offers configuration-driven service data management and MRO capabilities. Configuration-driven MRO bridges the gap between the logistics, maintenance, and engineering communities, to help drive more profitable growth, leaner operations, and improved asset performance.

Teamcenter provides a view of your products throughout their lifecycle with a complete, scalable family of solutions for allowing lifecycle participants to visualize product data in 2D and 3D formats even when this data is created using diverse authoring software.

So with the suite of fully integrated end-to-end PLM applications, Teamcenter 2007 provides companies with greater control by allowing them to connect all of their processes into a cohesive system that enhances efficiency and improves management visibility throughout the product lifecycle.

The ECAD visualization capability allows you to visualize industry- leading schematic and board layout formats.

“Siemens PLM Software appears to be ahead of its competitors in driving product data management functions across the board in product development projects,” said Dick Slansky, ARC Advisory Group. “Their broad scope of solutions is impressive but it’s the integration of those end-to-end offerings that creates real value for manufacturers.”
