The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) recently obtained the Authorized Provider status from the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). IACET Authorized Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET continuing education units (CEUs). The recognition period extends for five years, which includes all programs offered or created during that time.

“SWE is proud of our professional development programs that provide the skills and resources to keep women engineers on the cutting edge of the industry and their careers,” says Siddika Demir, president of SWE. “This accreditation from IACET allows SWE to expand our Career Enhancement Series to offer courses to meet the continuing development needs of our members and all women engineers.”

With this status, SWE can now accredit its education programs, including workshops, webinars and other professional development opportunities. Upcoming webinars will be among the programs accredited with the IACET Authorized Provider status, as well as Career Enhancement Series workshops and seminars at the Society’s WE10 Annual Conference, taking place November 4-6 in Orlando.

To achieve Authorized Provider status, SWE completed an application process, including a review by an IACET site visitor, and successfully demonstrated adherence to the American National Standards Institute/IACET 1-2007 Standard addressing the design, development, administration and evaluation of its programs.
