High-speed connect development group seeks outside guidance.

The development of the USB 3.0 spec, also called SuperSpeed USB (kinda rhymes) is well underway, but the Universal Serial Bus 3.0 Promoter Group is still looking for more ideas.

The spec, due by next summer, will create USB connections 10 times faster than today’s USB. This is pretty darn exciting. I don’ know about you, but USB and Plug and Play (anyone remember resetting DIP switches?) are the easiest way add capabilities to desktops and laptops. An ultra high-speed USB not just helps our clients, but could do wonders for expanding and even interconnecting servers.

If you think you have what it takes to contribute to USB 3.0, go here (www.usb.org/usb30). If accepted, you’ll be in good company. Other contributors include Intel, HP, Microsoft, and Texas Instruments.
