Vero Software Launches Alphacam 2015 R1

Added features include support for 5-axis machining and a Quick Access toolbar.

Vero Software has released Alphacam 2015 R1 machining software. This release includes a new 5-axis machining module as well as enhancements for efficiency, productivity and profitability, the company states.

The new machining module has a set of strategies for advanced tool axis control and intelligent collision avoidance. “Incorporating the Moduleworks technology into Alphacam shows our commitment to the complex Advanced 5 axis market. The new toolpaths can also be analyzed against the machine tool constraints using Alphacam’s 5-axis independent toolpath optimizer,” says Nick Spurrett, general manager, Alphacam.

The user interface has also been updated with a new ribbon bar and Quick Access Toolbar. With these functions, users can customize menus by adding their most commonly used functions.

Another added capability in 2015 R1 is aggregate tool holders. “They are a welcome addition in the new release, enabling users to define them with geometry extrusions and rotations, STL and solid CAD models. Users can now create a library of toolholders. These toolholders, or aggregates, can either be extruded, evolved geometry or solids.  Common applications of aggregates are horizontal routing and drilling. C-axis aggregates are also supported in Alphacam simulation,” says Spurrett.

Other updates include an enhanced Project Manager, a new File menu with recent file listings, multi-drill heads graphical support and a View Comparison function.
