Voltaire Ltd., a provider of scale-out data center fabrics, announced that its InfiniBand switches are powering 24 of China’s Top 100 high-performance computers, including the top three at the Tianjin Supercomputing Center, the Shanghai Supercomputer Center, and the Computer Network Information Center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The switches are being used in 65 percent of the total InfiniBand deployments noted on the list,  more than any other InfiniBand systems vendor.

Published annually by the Specialty Association of Mathematical & Scientific Software (SAMSS), the China TOP100 List tracks high-performance computing usage.

“Our main mission is to drive scientific innovation and advancement in industry by applying leading-edge supercomputing technologies,” says Yuqi Wei, manager, technical support department, Shanghai Supercomputer Center. “The Voltaire InfiniBand switches are integral for enabling the high performance, efficiency and stability of our 30,000-plus cores supercomputer.”

Voltaire’s 20 and 40 Gb/s InfiniBand switches provide the high-performance interconnect for the world’s largest computing systems and scale-out data centers. The switches accelerate mission-critical applications,  and enable faster data sharing among storage and server networks.

In November 2009, Voltaire also announced that according to the 34th edition of the TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, its switches power more than 50 percent of the InfiniBand deployments.
