WorldDesk announced support for a suite of productivity and business applications for its WorldDesk for Enterprise platform. More than 30 apps have been verified, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, Visual Studio, Tally, OpenOffice and Skype.
In this latest release of WorldDesk for Enterprise, the company has focused on “heavyweight and real-time apps,” the company says. The virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) provider’s solution allows the movement of applications, files and profiles between devices.
WorldDesk for Enterprise uses a “container” to manage and deliver the desktop centrally but run it entirely on the local machine. This approach takes advantage of the power in the local machine, but avoids the back-end expenditure required in other types of VDI solutions. The solution supports both Windows XP and Windows 7, having launched in both 32-bit and 64-bit earlier this year.
