TurboCAD Viewer Now on Android Market

IMSI/Design‘s TurboViewer, previously only available on iOS, is now available in Android Market. Like the version for iPad, Android TurboViewer is available for free. For $3.99, you may upgrade to TurboViewer X.

The Android version of TurboViewer lets you

  • send DWG and DXF files via email attachment and open with TurboViewer;
  • view DWG and DXF files posted to the web or hosted on cloud servers like Dropbox;
  • restore saved AutoCAD Views;
  • reuse AutoCAD line types in imported drawings; and
  • use multi-touch navigation for 2D and 3D drawings.
TurboViewer is the core of IMSI/Design’s long-term vision for an ecosystem built around mobile apps. The company plans to release an SDK for other developers to create apps that work with or complement TurboViewer.

“It’s no secret that Android’s momentum has been astounding,” said Royal Farros, chairman and CEO of IMSI/Design. “Just as we did in the iPad and iPhone world, we’re the first to bring native 3D DWG viewing to the exploding Android platform.” When announcing the company’s intent to release a TurboViewer SDK, Farros said, “We believe we can be a foundation for Mobile CAD going forward and can’t wait to see what apps the smart phone and tablet generation creates.”

TurboViewer’s main rival may be Autodesk’s AutoCAD WS, also available on both iOS devices and Android devices.
