MSC Software Launches Roadshow to Explain Material Simulation

MSC Software hosts a series of road show to discuss the use of composite materials.

MSC Software, well-known as the developer behind MSC Nastran, is launching a roadshow this year to discuss the importance of advanced materials. Between Sep. 3 to Oct. 9, MSC plans to host talks and discussions in five different cities:

• Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014 - Newport Beach, CA
• Wednesday, September 24th, 2014 - Wichita, KS
• Thursday, September 25th, 2014 - Dallas, TX
• Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 - Huntsville, AL
• Thursday, October 9th, 2014 - Seattle, WA

The initiative is the outcome of MSC’s 2012 acquisition of the Belgium based e-Xtream Engineering, which specializes in composite materials. e-Xtream’s Digimat software for designing advanced materials is now part of MSC’s portfolio.MSC press office says, “Materials innovation is a big investment for all industries and MSC wanted to increase the awareness of the huge benefits our customers are reaping from materials simulation. A roadshow offers an interactive forum to learn and ask questions about the options available to you as well.”

The science of composite materials is complex, but its use has proven to offer tangible benefits to those seeking to develop lighter products, especially in aerospace and automotive where weight affects fuel economy and the total cost of ownership over time.

MSC plans to keep sessions to around 30 participants, targeting engineers and project managers with an interest in lightweighting and optimization. The company’s material experts will be present to answer questions about specific use cases. The sessions will focus primarily on Digimat and MaterialCenter.
